I would come to learn over the course of our day that Zara was a slow reveal in every aspect. She was thoughtful. Intentional. Alluring and enigmatic. I found myself following her lead, not just because it was her city and she was playing impromptu tour guide, but because I was falling under her spell whether she was actively casting one or not.

The day unfolded like a dream I didn’t want to wake from. At some point, before leaving the museum, I heard myself confessing that I’d love to learn more about some of the art and would probably do a little digging online to learn more about rope bondage. That’s when things shifted. We were grabbing a snack at a tapas bar and Zara placed her hand gently on top of mine. I trembled, but didn’t pull back.

She leaned over to whisper, “Do you want me to teach you what I know?”

Our eyes locked and my lips parted slowly like flowers opening at dawn to taste the sun. “Yes…”
